The list is designed to recognize “home-grown Chinese tech enterprises that are shaping the wider world”. Fortune’s editorial team observes that a rising number of domestic tech firms are moving beyond application oriented innovation and advancing into upstream industrial links. Businesses have boosted research and development investment covering chips, algorithm architectures, development tools, core raw materials and infrastructure construction. Selected companies are backed by robust hard core technology. “Chinese technology industries require fewer trend chasers and speculators, and more long term-oriented developers with sincere respect for underlying technologies.
Other leading Chinese technology enterprises including Huawei, ByteDance, CATL, Tencent and DeepSeek made the list together with Startorus Fusion. They cover key tracks such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, new energy, commercial aerospace and embodied intelligence. On this elite roster representing China’s highest level hard tech strength, controlled nuclear fusion, known as “the ultimate energy solution”, is represented exclusively by Startorus Fusion.
Startorus Fusion devotes its work to the commercialization of controlled nuclear fusion. It advances fusion-based power generation through its original technical route—the reconnection spherical tokamak. Benefiting from outstanding vertical integration capacity, the enterprise independently develops and manufactures core equipment and key parts including the four metre grade high temperature superconducting toroidal field magnet for spherical tokamaks, speeding up practical engineering progress.The enterprise runs an experimental base in Jiading, Shanghai. It carries out work on the NTST apparatus and research into CTRFR-1 (Startorus 1), continuously improving its capacity for the design, construction and system integration of fusion reaction apparatus.
